Technical proposal 600KW Natural gas generator

1. Design Basis

The natural gas generator set can operate stably and reliably under environmental conditions of -30℃ to +55℃ ambient temperature, relative humidity <90% (at 20℃), and altitude ≤1000m. It can output rated power under standard environmental conditions (atmospheric pressure 100kPa, ambient temperature: 25℃, relative humidity 30%). When the actual operating or test conditions of the generator are worse than those specified above, the generator’s output power should be derated according to ISO 3046 standard and shall not exceed the generator’s rated power.

The natural gas generator set can operate stably and reliably under the environmental conditions of ambient temperature -30°C~+55°C, relative humidity<90% (at 20°C) and altitude ≤1000m.

The rated power can be output under standard environmental conditions (atmospheric pressure 100 KPa, ambient temperature: 25°C, relatively moderate air 30%).

When the actual working conditions or test conditions of the generator are worse than the above provisions, the output power of the generator shall be derated according to the ISO 3046 standard, which shall not exceed the rated power of the generator.

Derating Calculation

Associated gas derating calculation: Based on the composition of the associated gas at the site, with a methane content of 69.5%, the 127 series units require a reduction in power output, with a derating factor of approximately 0.8.

2. Introduction to Natural Gas Generator Sets

The 600GF-TK natural gas generator set uses a 127 series gas engine from China National Petroleum Corporation Jichai Power Co., Ltd., and is equipped with a generator manufactured using Siemens technology, adhering to the ISO9001 quality system.

The 600GF-TK generator set is a closed-type unit, and its structure consists of the engine section, generator section, control panel, and horizontal radiator cooling section.

Main Unit Features

  • Highly efficient and reliable intake and exhaust system design, with increased intake pipe cross-sectional area to improve intake efficiency.
  • Utilizing high-efficiency, low-resistance intercoolers and plate-type oil coolers with German technology to improve cooling efficiency and increase the cooling surface area for air and lubricating oil.
  • Explosion-proof doors are installed at the ends of the left and right intake pipes of the natural gas engine and at the crankcase inspection cover. The crankcase inspection cover also has a breather valve to vent any flammable gases entering the crankcase to the outside.
  • The unit is specifically designed for oilfield associated gas and has broad adaptability to the complex gas mixtures found in oilfield associated gas.

3. Control Panel Introduction

The control panel is a floor-standing cabinet type. It contains control modules, electronic speed regulators, adjustment buttons, and an emergency stop button, used to control and monitor the operating status of the generator set. The generator set is started manually at the machine side, and stopping can be done either at the machine side or via buttons on the control panel, allowing for convenient operation from both the field and the control room.

Each generator set is equipped with one low-voltage control panel, used for the protection and synchronization/grid connection control of the corresponding generator. It provides protection against overcurrent, reverse power, overvoltage, overload, undervoltage, underfrequency, high water temperature, high oil temperature, low oil pressure, and overspeed. It also controls the generator set’s switching on and off, active power regulation, and reactive power regulation. The module includes a 485 Modbus communication interface, allowing data to be transmitted remotely to the user’s SCADA system for monitoring the unit’s operation.

4. Unit’s Internal Power Consumption Instructions

The unit’s internal power requirements include power for the equipment room lighting, cooling system, and control power. All internal power at 480V is supplied from the low-voltage side distribution cabinet circuit breaker.

5. Computer Room Structure

The gas generator set room is 9 meters long, 3 meters wide, and 3.15 meters high, accommodating one generator set each. The room is a steel-structured, soundproof enclosure, with the generator control panel located inside and the horizontal radiator mounted on top of the room.

7. Treatment of Associated Gas Before Use

The Jinan Diesel 12V190ZLT1-1 series engine has the following requirements for natural gas: Before use, the associated gas from the oil field should be processed through a water-gas separator, filter, and pressure regulator. The separator should be drained regularly to remove condensed liquids, ensuring that there are no liquid components in the associated oil field gas. After filtration, the impurity particle size in the fuel gas should be less than 5 μm, and the content should not exceed 0.03 g/m³. Ceramic or paper core filters are recommended. The pressure regulating tank should have a volume of approximately 1 m³ and be equipped with a safety valve.

Sulfides in the gas severely corrode engine components; therefore, the total sulfur content of the fuel gas should not exceed 350 mg/m³, and the hydrogen sulfide content should not exceed 20 mg/m³.

The required gas flow rate for the 600GF-TK gas turbine unit is 200 m³/h.
